Operation of regional juvenile center spelled out in bill

The money for the center was set aside by the 1997 Legislature, without a cost division for Storey, Lyon, Douglas and Churchill counties and Carson City.

Speaker Joe Dini, D-Yerington, who introduced AB314, said the plan was written by the counties themselves and apportions the cost for the first two years based on the number of public school students in each county.

After that, Dini said the counties can set up a joint operating agreement to split the costs based on actual use by each county.
