Jerry E. Abbott, 57, of Henderson died Tuesday in Henderson. He was born Dec. 17, 1941, in Amarillo, Texas. A resident for 27 years, he was a casino floorman.

He is survived by his wife, Jeanne; two daughters, Connie Fernandez and Traci Gall, both of Las Vegas; his mother, Erma Abbott of Borger, Texas; two brothers, Andy R. Abbott of Depew, Okla., and Randy P. Abbott of Irving, Texas; and five grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave.

John L. Bergman

John L. Bergman, 67, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local care center. He was born Feb. 6, 1932, in Omaha, Neb. A resident for four years, he was a retired operations manager at 3M with 33 years on the job and was a Navy veteran.

He is survived by his wife, G. JoAnn; one son, Jon Bergman of Escondido, Calif.; and two sisters, LaVerne Krapp of Omaha and Joanne Swanson of Fort Dodge, Iowa.

A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Friday in St. Andrew's Lutheran Church, 8901 Del Webb Blvd. Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave. is handling arrangements.

The family request donations to the John L. Bergman Memorial, St. Andrew's Lutheran Church or the National Parkinson's Foundation.

Jerome Block

Jerome 'Jerry' Block, 84, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. He was born Feb. 15, 1915, in Owen Sound, Ontario. A resident for 51 years, he was a retired insurance broker and owner of Pacific Nevada Inc. for more than 50 years.

He is survived by his wife, Jeanne F.; two sons, Philip Block of Merced, Calif., and Brian Block of Las Vegas; one brother, Roy Block of Monroe, Ga.; one sister, Ruth Michael of Chicago; and two grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 10 a.m. Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd.

The family suggests contributions to the donor's favorite charity.

Leona Hetrick

Leona Hetrick, 86, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospital. She was born Aug. 10, 1912, in Mullinsville, Kan. A resident for one year, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, Floyd; one son, James F. Hetrick of Las Vegas; two sisters, Stella Wallway of Vancouver, Wash., and Arlene of Buena Park, Calif.; five grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

American Burial and Cremation Services, 310 Foremaster Lane, is handling private arrangements.

Lee Doris Jefferson

Lee Doris Jefferson, 50, of Las Vegas died Friday in Las Vegas. A resident for 45 years, she was born May 30, 1948, in Toledo, Ohio.

She is survived by two daughters, Lyshon Jefferson and Christine Jefferson-Graham, her father, the Rev. Joseph S. Jefferson, and two sisters, Juanita Williams-Buckles and JoEtta Jefferson, all of Las Vegas; five brothers, Samuel Jefferson, Ezra Jefferson, Willie Lee Jefferson and Frank Phillip Jefferson, all of Las Vegas, and the Rev. John Luther Jefferson of Gardena, Calif.; and seven grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 1-8 p.m. Friday in American Burial and Cremation Services, 310 Foremaster Lane. Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday in Second Baptist Church, 500 W. Madison Ave. Burial will follow in Palm Memorial Park.

Mark Oscar Lawrence

Mark Oscar Lawrence, 75, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. He was born April 2, 1923, in Spanish Fork, Utah. A resident for 47 years, he was an employee for the U.S. government and a World War II Air Force veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Yvonne L.; and one sister, Janet Davis of Larkspur, Calif.

Frank Leavitt

Frank Leavitt, 43, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. He was born Aug. 21, 1955, in Las Vegas. A lifelong resident, he was a lather/ carpenter and a member of the Carpenters Union.

He is survived by two daughters, Sara Leavitt of Lewiston, Idaho, and Jessica Leavitt of Las Vegas; one son, Levi Leavitt, his companion, Terry Hall, and his mother, Jaquelyn Lauridsen, all of Las Vegas; his father, Ned Leavitt of Mesquite; five sisters, Faith Auguilar, Lynn Kuchuris, Katherine McKinnon and Kimberly Lauridsen, all of Las Vegas, and Linda Symonton of Montana; six brothers, Michael Shutt, Lonnie Leavitt, Mark Shutt, Kevin Stauffer, Tommy Stauffer and Edward Leavitt, and his grandmother, Delna Alvey, all of Las Vegas.

Services will be 3 p.m. Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St.

Allen Lewis

Allen Lewis, 93, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospice. He was born Nov. 20, 1905, in Valcamere, Russia. A resident for four years, he was a retired insurance agent.

He is survived by his wife, Ann; two daughters, Judith E. Lewis of Las Vegas and Shelly Lewis Jaffe of Wilmette, Ill.; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Stanley Rudolph McKay

Stanley Rudolph McKay, 81, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospital. He was born March 23, 1917, in Butte, Mont. A resident for 18 years, he was a studio grip for 25 years at 20th Century Fox and a member of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees Union Local 80.

He is survived by one stepson, Billie D. High of Las Vegas.

Joyce J. Miller

Joyce J. Miller, 64, of Las Vegas died Thursday in a local hospital. She was born Jan. 7, 1935, in Joplin, Mo. A resident for 27 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by two daughters, Nancy Miller of Kansas City, Mo., and Mary Miller of St. Louis; four sons, Steve Miller and Larry Miller, both of Kansas City, Richard Miller of St. Louis and Robert Miller of Peculiar, Mo.; one brother, Pat Doyle of Scottsdale, Ariz.; and nine grandchildren.

Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St., is handling arrangements.

Frank Carroll Pomanto

Frank Carroll Pomanto, 68, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. He was born June 5, 1930, in Downingtown, Pa. A resident for 20 years, he was the president and founder of Sierra Nevada Mortgage and a World War II Army veteran.

He is survived by two brothers, Orlando Pomanto of Las Vegas and David Pomanto of Chestersprings, Pa.; and two sisters, Rose Bruno and Agnes DiEuliis, both of Downingtown.

Services will be 9 a.m. Friday at Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave. Burial will follow in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City.

Herman Stegemann

Herman Stegemann, 85, of Las Vegas died Friday in Las Vegas. He was born Jan. 21, 1914, in New York. A resident for 13 years, he was a self-employed vacuum and vacuum parts salesman.

He is survived by his wife, Stephanie; two daughters, Patty Hart and Mary Jane Gavin; and five grandchildren.

Arthur Glynn Talley

Arthur Glynn Talley, 55, of Henderson died Friday in Las Vegas. He was born Dec. 28, 1943, in Vivian, La. A resident for nine years, he was a retired shipyard pipefitter and a Vietnam War Army veteran.

He is survived by his companion, Estelle Roz Bruning of Henderson; and one sister, Lois Dunbar of Shreveport, La.

Visitation is scheduled noon-1 p.m. Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson. Graveside services will follow in Palm Memorial Park, Henderson.

John Wish

John Wish, 20, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. He was born March 1, 1978, in Omaha, Neb. A resident for 10 years, he was a student at Community College of Southern Nevada.

He is survived by his parents, Laima and Anthony Wish of Las Vegas; and two sisters, Tara Thompson of Omaha and Christina Wish of Las Vegas.

Visitation is scheduled 4-8 p.m. Friday in Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd. Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday in Spring Valley Assembly of God Church, 7570 W. Peace Way. Burial will follow in Palm Memorial Park, Northwest.
