That compares to a loss of $38.6 million or $7.91 per share on revenue of $38.4 million in the year-earlier quarter, which included special charges of $36.8 million.
For all of 1998, Lady Luck earned $8 million or $1.63 per share on revenue of $142 million compared to a 1997 loss of $38.5 million or $7.88 per share on revenue of $157 million.
"These positive results, which include record earnings, validate our strategy of trimming underperforming properties from the company's portfolio and focusing on operations at our core assets," said Lady Luck President Alain Uboldi.
Lady Luck has dockside and riverboat casinos in Mississippi and Iowa and is developing projects in Mississippi and Missouri.
