Court stops two home sales
Thursday, Feb. 25, 1999 | 11:03 a.m.
Robert Taylor, 5504 Flower Circle, and Ascent Capital Corp., which owns a home as an investment at 8117 Pacific Cove Drive, successfully obtained court orders halting the sales of their homes.
The office of County Treasurer Laura Fitzpatrick had attempted to contact the owners of the homes for nonpayment of property taxes. In both cases, the office was unsuccessful in contacting the owners. In Taylor's case, ownership was passed to his daughter, Judy Ann Essex, a Washington resident, while notice of the sale of the Ascent property to Ascent was not in the treasurer's office.
In both cases, the owners assumed tax payments were being made by mortgage companies.
More than 500 homes were sold this month in the annual tax trustee sale to collect payment of unpaid property taxes.
