UNLV coach takes job with Chargers

UNLV wide receivers coach DelVaughn Alexander, one of only two holdovers from former head coach Jeff Horton's staff, has been hired as an assistant coach with the San Diego Chargers.
Alexander will be what is termed "a quality control" assistant, the NFL equivalent of a graduate assistant. He will be reunited with two coaches he played and coached for at Southern Cal, new Chargers head coach Mike Riley and wide receivers coach Mike Sanford.
UNLV head coach John Robinson wasted little time in replacing Alexander. He hired Steve Leach, an assistant coach at Northeast Louisiana University.
Leach was recommended for the job by UNLV defensive coordinator Jeff McInerney, who was a coach at Troy State University when Leach played there from 1987-90.
