Nevada Power, Sierra Pacific name new execs

Twelve utility executives, seven from Sierra Pacific Resources Inc. and five from Nevada Power Co., have been named as corporate officers when the two companies merge.
Joining President and Chief Operating Officer Malyn Malquist and Chief Executive Officer Michael Niggli are three senior vice presidents, two from Sierra Pacific. Malquist and Niggli have led Sierra Pacific and Nevada Power, respectively.
From Sierra Pacific, Mark Ruelle was named chief financial officer and William Peterson, general counsel. Steve Rigazio of Nevada Power will become senior vice president of energy delivery.
Four vice presidents for the merged company have held executive positions with Sierra Pacific. They include Steven Oldham, strategic planning; Doug Ponn, government and regulatory affairs; Mary Jane Willier, human resources; and Jeffrey Ceccarelli, northern district operations.
Three vice presidents for the merged company have held positions with Nevada Power. The are David Barneby, vice president of generation; Gloria Banks Weddle, corporate services; and Sally Galati, southern district operations.
In addition, it was announced that Mary Simmons of Sierra Pacific would serve as controller.
Officials from the two companies say the officers will assume their new positions when the merger is completed, which is expected in the second quarter of 1999. The new structure represents a 30 percent reduction in executive management for the two companies.
