Letter: Take it from one who was there
Wednesday, Feb. 17, 1999 | 11:46 a.m.
First off, Mr. Greenwald wrote he was employed for 21 years at the Sands, but failed to mention that Sheldon Adelson paid Mr. Greenwald severance pay commensurate with his years of employment even though his union contract contained no such requirement, all unused vacation pay, and even paid him through July 15, 1996, approximately two full weeks not worked. I should know, I was there.
I would also point out to Mr. Greenwald the circumstances under which Mr. Adelson closed the Sands. Unless Mr. Greenwald has forgotten, Mr. Adelson closed the Sands before he had to so Sands employees could have sufficient time to check all the casino job availabilities in Las Vegas. I should know, I was there.
