A referee at Juvenile Court and two private attorneys have topped a field of 23 applicants who wanted to fill a vacant Family Court seat.
The names of the finalists -- referee Sylvia Beller and attorneys Randall Pike and Arthur Ritchie -- will be sent to newly elected Gov. Kenny Guinn, who will make the final appointment.
The trio was named by the Nevada Judicial Selection Commission late Tuesday and announced today after a day and a half of interviewing Family Court candidates. The vacancy in Family Court resulted when Judge Gary Redmon won election to a newly created seat on the general District Court.
The commission will continue its duties today to pick the finalists for two vacancies on District Court handling civil and criminal cases.
