The Henderson Redevelopment Agency unanimously approved the acquisition of several pieces of property as well as the demolition of some city-owned buildings Tuesday night.
Members of the agency, which doubles as the City Council, voted to acquire the property at 203 S. Water St. as well as 211, 219 and 225 S. Water St. as part of its downtown redevelopment efforts. They also will purchase the land at 210 and 214 Texas Ave.
"This will help us acquire a block of parcels so we can begin at some point to do a request for proposals to develop this site," Mary Kay Peck, community development director, said.
Property bought for public works facility
The Henderson City Council on Tuesday unanimously approved the purchase of 28 acres and the lease of six acres and the former Hesse building at 2101 Moser Drive from Phyllis E. Thompson Cos.
The city will use the property for its ever-growing public works department.
