The worker, who has not been identified, was performing maintenance on part of the mine's underground compressed air system when a hose broke free from a mounting and struck him in the head, causing fatal injuries.
Getchell said it has notified state and federal authorities and is investigating the accident.
The Turquoise Ridge mine, located 43 miles northeast of Winnemucca, is Getchell's only mining operation.
