SUN STAFF AND WIRE REPORTS
Two-time Olympian Victoria Herazo of Henderson won the Silver State Invitational Masters Indoor Track & Field racewalk championship Sunday in Reno and qualified for her 13th consecutive U.S. National Championship race Feb. 27 in Atlanta.
Herazo won the 3,000-meter racewalk in Reno by approximately 800 meters and had lapped the field by the third lap of the 15-lap race, said trainer Jim Bentley.
She won in spite of a disc problem in her back that was affecting her hips. On the advice of her local physician, Dr. Robert Voy, she will see a specialist in Los Angeles this week. Herazo finished fourth in the U.S. National race last year, her lowest career finish in the event.
