Letter: GOP gave little guy motivation
Tuesday, Feb. 16, 1999 | 12:17 p.m.
The country was founded for the benefit of average working people and designed by the founding fathers to provide the opportunity for average people through hard work, sacrifice and saving, risk-taking, etc., to become wealthy.
The founding fathers knew that the wealthy, for their own gain would invest in, open, or through savings, provide the money to loan to business, and that they would employ more average working people.
That's why we have the highest standard of living on the globe.
The Republicans understand what the founding fathers knew, that if you take the reward from work, sacrifice, investment, through taxation, regulation, etc., you will destroy the ambition which drives average working people to become wealthy and continue the cycle.
The Democrats derive their power by taxing and using the money for programs which they sell as benefits to workers, seniors, environmentalists, etc.
The Democrats will destroy the ambition which drives average people, (who make this country, the land of opportunity) and make them dependent on their party for their benefits, instead of self-reliant and free.
That's what Republicans have done for average working people. It wasn't their idea, it was the founding fathers.
