Yucca Mountain meetings scheduled

The U.S. Department of Energy is hosting a public information meeting in areas around the state to offer an update on the Yucca Mountain Project, where scientists are studying the site as a permanent high-level nuclear waste repository.
Project staff will be available to answer questions and to talk about current activities on the mountain, 90 miles northwest of Las Vegas.
The first meeting is in Amargosa Valley's Community Building from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday.
The second meeting is scheduled for Reno from 5:30 to 8 p.m. on Feb. 23.
The third meeting will be at the Clark County Government Center Community Room from 5:30 to 8 p.m. on Feb. 25.
