Town meeting planned on clinic
Monday, Feb. 15, 1999 | 11:22 a.m.
Councilman Larry Brown will host a neighborhood meeting Feb. 19 to discuss the placement of a proposed drug treatment clinic for pregnant women or new mothers and their children.
More than 500 residents registered protests with the City Council regarding a 17,000-square-foot Healthy Families clinic at Michael Way and Smoke Ranch Road.
The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the multipurpose room at Berkeley Bunker Elementary School, 6350 Peak Drive, near Torrey Pines Drive and Cheyenne Avenue.
The protests began when Zankan Trust and Madsen Family Limited Partnership requested to relocate the existing Healthy Families clinic 1 1/2 blocks from its present location at 2500 Apricot Lane in the county.
For information on the meeting, call Laurie Kruse in Brown's office at 229-6405.
