Turner and his wife, Susan Little, an analyst at Raymond James & Associates, plan to start their own hedge fund after a three-year no-compete period.
Turner said the couple has decided to "stop and smell the roses" for a few years.
The first analyst to predict Stratosphere Corp. was headed for bankruptcy and a frequent critic of gaming mogul Donald Trump, Turner has gained a reputation as an independent thinker with a keen understanding of the industry's dynamics.
