Brief: New route rejected by some Strip resorts

Representatives of the Desert Inn, The Venetian and the Treasure Island hotel-casinos met on Wednesday with Clark County Commissioner Bruce Woodbury and said they would oppose a route proposed by the MGM-Bally's Monorail LLC.
Monorail officials had hoped to include the Fashion Show Mall and the Stardust and New Frontier hotel-casinos into their route. But in order to accomplish that, the track would have to go onto Desert Inn property in order to avoid a planned pedestrian overpass at Spring Mountain Road and Las Vegas Boulevard.
Woodbury said today he would recommend going back to the original route, which would skirt a portion of Desert Inn Estates, a neighborhood along the Desert Inn golf course.
