Letter: Republicans beware — Gloating has begun
Monday, Feb. 8, 1999 | 11:07 a.m.
Having failed badly in their presentation to the Senate, House managers continue to beat this dead issue; just one more story and we can prove our case.
It's time for the 13 managers to stand up like men, stop snivelling and wash the egg from their faces. It's embarrassing to watch.
Republicans don't want to reap this bitter harvest, and not knowing how they got into this mess, they certainly don't know how to get out.
Whining senators speak about "saving face" and "exiting gracefully" and (horrors) the president might "gloat" if he's acquitted. Better go tell that to someone who cares, senators!
As for me, well, after what you've put this nation through, you just watch me gloat -- right up to November 2000.
