A Las Vegas man died from his injuries overnight at University Medical Center after he and a passenger were thrown from their car in a collision on the Pecos-McLeod Interconnect near Desert Inn Road.
The men were heading west along Emerson Avenue in a 1985 Mercury and had attempted to turn left onto Pecos-McLeod when they were hit by a northbound 1989 Chevrolet about 7:55 p.m. Wednesday, Sgt. Curt Albert said.
The Mercury's driver, whose name was withheld until relatives can be notified, was thrown about 40 feet from the Mercury into a parking lot, Albert said.
Richard Williams, 37, of Las Vegas, the only passenger in the Mercury, was treated and released from UMC.
The Chevrolet's driver, identified as Renel Cordero, 30, was estimated by investigators to have been traveling around 60 mph, Albert said.
