Casino operator pitches hotel tax

Either spending plan would benefit the local community, said John Farahi, chief executive officer of the Atlantis Casino Resort and a member of the board of directors for the Reno-Sparks Convention & Visitors Authority.
"Does it take a rocket scientist to know if we bring citywide conventions ... it will (positively) impact every business in this community?" Farahi said.
Two big conventions helped the RSCVA reap its best December ever in terms of room-tax collections.
