A breach-of-contract suit was filed by Players Lake Charles LLC, Lake Charles, La., against Caprel Enterprises Inc., which operated Caprel Services and Travel in Las Vegas; and its owner, Warren Kaplan.
The suit says Kaplan agreed to arrange for a 50-passenger plane to pick up customers in San Antonio, Texas, on May 7 and transport them to Lake Charles. Four Caprel checks totalling $52,800 were allegedly written in January and February 1998 to cover costs and Kaplan signed a $115,000 promissory note, the suit says.
The charter plane failed to arrive as planned and all checks were returned by the bank with payment stopped or insufficient funds to cover them, the suit alleges.
The casino's suit said the company lost $52,661 as a result of the incident and the company's reputation was damaged.
Phones listed for Kaplan and Caprel Services and Travel have been disconnected.
