Brief: AA pilots threaten work slowdown

Pilots claim the purchase violates the "scope" clause in their contract, which guarantees any planes owned by American will be flown by members of the Allied Pilots Association.
American says it intends to integrate Reno's 25 jets and 300 pilots into its system. But the union fears American's real agenda is to maintain Reno as a separate low-cost carrier with lower-paid pilots.
"The line pilots are about as angry about this as I have seen them in my eight years at the company," said Drew Engelke, a union spokesman.
