Letter: Make Rogers superintendent permanently
Wednesday, Dec. 29, 1999 | 9:44 a.m.
Most locals know of Jim's business success, and of his commitment and generosity to educational causes. However, many may not know how well educated Jim is himself -- probably far better than anyone the School Board can find after another full national search.
Of course, as a past justice and chief justice of the Nevada Supreme Court I can certify Jim is an outstanding and experienced attorney. What even many judges don't know, however, is that Jim is academically prepared beyond the usual Juris Doctor degree which most lawyers hold. Jim also went on to earn a Master of Laws degree from the University of Southern California, one of America's foremost law schools.
Then while teaching at another leading institution, Jim did all course work to qualify for a Doctor of Juridical Science Degree, which is the terminal academic degree in law.
If Jim will take the job, I vote we draft him not just as interim superintendent, but permanently.
