The Nevada Welfare Division's Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program will be accepting applications until April 30.
The program is designed to assist low-income Nevadans with the high cost of heating and cooling by paying a portion of their energy bills, Welfare Division Administrator Myla Florence said.
Eligibility is based on factors including total gross income. A one-person household's monthly income cannot exceed $1,030. The income for a family of four cannot exceed $2,087.50. The value of the household contents cannot exceed $4,000 for one person or $6,000 for a household with more than one person.
Last year the state helped more than 8,000 families, Florence said.
To obtain an application call 486-3000, extension 4420. Completed applications have to be mailed to the LIHEA Program Office, 559 S. Saliman, No. 101, Carson City, NV 89701-5040.
