Slope scaling and stabilization work is continuing along several vulnerable areas of the narrow road that links the Reno area to Virginia City.
It's part of a $3.6 million project involving road resurfacing and guardrail installation.
Workers and equipment are removing loose rocks from sections of the hillsides above the highway and covering them with chain-link wire to help prevent slides.
The work is expected to warp up by March, which is nothing but good news to commuters.
As construction has intensified in recent weeks, motorists have faced delays of 10-20 minutes because of the need to reduce travel to one lane on a section of highway.
