Betty Ray Austin

Betty Ray Austin, 56, of Las Vegas died Dec. 13 in Las Vegas. She was born Nov. 24, 1943, in Olive Branch, Miss. A longtime resident, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by one aunt, Iris Phoenix, two cousins, Carla Gail and Kevin Phoenix, all of Las Vegas; and one uncle, G.T. Scott of Mississippi.

Visitation is scheduled 2 1/2 hours prior to 11:30 services Tuesday in Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North.

Thomas Earl Bartlett

Thomas Earl Bartlett, 46, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. He was born Aug. 28, 1953, in Wyoming. A longtime resident, he was a security guard.

He is survived by one brother, Gary Bartlett of Wyoming.

Joseph P. Cardella

Joseph P. Cardella, 84, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. He was born Jan. 29, 1915, in Chicago. A resident for 13 years, he was a retired owner of a landscaping business.

He is survived by his wife, Kay; two sons, Leonard Cardella of Chicago and Wallace Peschel of St. Louis; three brothers, Carl Cardella and Leo Cardella, both of Chicago, and Sam Cardella of Las Vegas; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled one hour prior to 10 a.m. services Friday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Burial will be in Palm Valley View Cemetery.

Carola Ernst

Carola Ernst, 92, of Marion, Ohio died Dec. 6 in Marion. She was born Dec. 21, 1906, in Germany. A former resident of Nevada, she was a homemaker.

Graveside services are scheduled 2 p.m. Dec. 27 in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City. Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson handled arrangements.

Marion Sylvina Folkman

Marion Sylvina Folkman, 84, of North Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. She was born Nov. 5, 1915, in Idaho. A resident for 37 years, she was a retired school teacher.

She is survived by three daughters, Kristine Abbott of Provo, Utah, Charlotte Olsen of North Las Vegas, and Reta Troxell of Las Vegas; one son, Charles Folkman of Las Vegas; one brother, Thomas Guptill of England; two sisters, Virginia Harris and Shirley Maughan, both of Utah; 27 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 5:30-8 p.m. today in Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Services are scheduled 11 a.m. Friday in the Tonopah Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints chapel at Civic Center.

Walter Hushaw

Walter Hushaw, 65, of Boulder City died Monday in a local hospital. He was born Feb. 12, 1934, in Glendale, Calif. A resident for 19 years, he was a Naval aviator and a retired Navy Captain Korean and Vietnam War veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Donna; two sons, Darryl Hushaw and Dwayne Hushaw, both of Henderson; and one sister, Dorothy Hekel of Palm Desert, Calif.

A memorial service is scheduled 2:15 p.m. Monday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City.

William Ralph Jackson

William Ralph Jackson, 45, of Las Vegas died Nov. 27 in Las Vegas. He was born Feb. 27, 1954, in Arkansas. A resident for 21 years, he was worked at a beauty salon.

He is survived by one daughter, Mikko Denise Jackson of Pine Bluff, Ark.; three sisters, Jettie M. Wiseman, Wanda Williams and Iola Gray, all of Pine Bluff; four brothers, Eddie Jackson, Leonard Jackson and Elie Jackson, all of Pine Bluff and Carnell Jackson of Los Angeles; and two grandchildren.

Arrangements were handled by Palm Mortuary, 1325 North Main Street, Las Vegas.

Ruth Kaplan

Ruth Kaplan, 86, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. She was born June 6, 1913, in Buffalo, N.Y. A resident for 25 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by two sons, Howard Kaplan and Michael Kaplan, and one granddaughter, Kelsey Kaplan, all of Las Vegas.

A memorial service was scheduled 2 p.m. today in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave.

Larry Mitchell

Larry Mitchell, 42, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. He was born Oct. 16, 1957, in Shreveport, La. A resident for 13 years, he was a garbage disposal driver and a Vietnam War Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon; one daughter, Tina Dunlap of Las Vegas; three sons, Antonio Dunlap and Larry Buckles, both of Las Vegas and Joey Armstrong of Dubach, La.; his mother, Beatrice Mitchell, three sisters, Phyllis Mitchell, Marylin Mitchell and Mattie Mitchell, all of Bernice, La.; four brothers, Kenneth Mitchell and James Mitchell, both of Las Vegas and Patrick Mitchell and Lonnie Mitchell, both of Bernice; and two grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 2-7 p.m. Sunday in Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd. Services are scheduled 2 p.m. Monday in Palm, Jones. Burial will be in Palm Memorial Park, Northwest.

Helen Ann Pearns

Helen Ann Pearns, 97, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local care center. She was born March 29, 1902, in Cleveland. A resident for 35 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by one daughter, Gloria Harvey of Las Vegas; one son, James W. Pearns of Upland, Calif.; eight grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.

Visitation was scheduled one hour prior to 3 p.m. services today in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Burial followed in Palm Valley View Cemetery. Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd. handled arrangements.

Earl Lloyd Peters

Earl Lloyd Peters, 83, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. He was born April 11, 1916, in Ohio. A longtime resident, he was a hotel-casino cashier.

He is survived by one sister, Georgia Garrison of Ohio.

Joseph Piastro

Joseph Piastro, 77, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. He was born Nov. 5, 1922, in Pueblo, Colo. A resident for 15 years, he was a retired sheet metal worker in the construction industry, a member of the Sheet Metal Workers Union, No. 9 and a World War II Navy veteran.

He is survived by one son, Rick Piastro of Las Vegas; one sister, Marie Blatnik of Pueblo, Colo.; and three grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 4-7 p.m. today in Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd.

Ida M. Posch

Ida M. Posch, 74, of Las Vegas died Tuesday at a local hospital. She was born April 6, 1925, in Lubbock, Texas. A resident for 36 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by three daughters, Nita Posch and Nannette Vaughn, both of Las Vegas and Nina DeWitt of Carlin; one son, John Bennett of Reno; and nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Mack Lee Rainey

Mack Lee Rainey, 81, of North Las Vegas died Monday in North Las Vegas. He was born April 12, 1918, in Newton County, Miss. A resident for 50 years, he was a barber and an Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Gertha; one daughter, Rasa Louise Smith, one son, Timmithy Earl Smith, both of Toledo, Ohio; one sister, Maxine Smith of Jackson, Miss.; six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation is scheduled 1-7 p.m. Monday in Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Services are scheduled 1 p.m. Tuesday in Second Baptist Church.

Dorothy Catherine Regan

Dorothy Catherine Regan, 97, of Las Vegas died in a local hospital. She was born Nov. 2, 1902, in Portland, Ore. A resident for five years, she was a retired municipal court supervisor.

She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Harriet and William Cuddy of Las Vegas; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 4-7:30 p.m. with a 7 p.m. service Tuesday in Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd. An additional service is scheduled 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Francis De Sales Catholic Church.

Richard Wesley Wagner

Richard Wesley Wagner, 69, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. He was born June 14, 1930, in Council Bluffs, Iowa. A resident for two years, he was a retired electronic technician, a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion and Fraternal Order of Eagles, and a Vietnam and Korean War veteran.

He is survived by one daughter, Katherine Sands of Issaquah, Wash.; one son, Richard George Wagner of San Diego; four sisters, Frances Gnader of Mesquite, Texas, Marilyn Van Gorp of Las Vegas, Carol Hatcher of Half Moon Bay, Calif., and Elaine Smith of Arvada, Colo.; two brothers, Bob Wagner of Foster City, Calif., and Gary Wagner of Billings, Mont.; and three grandchildren.

Ben Zollotuchen

Ben Zollotuchen, 86, of Las Vegas, died Tuesday in a local hospital. He was born Aug. 13, 1913, in Russia. A resident for 35 years, he was a retired manager in the automotive industry.

He is survived by one daughter, Sharron Levy of Van Nuys, Calif.; one son, Arlen Zollotuchen of Las Vegas; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
