Letter: No help in sight for ‘notch babies’
Monday, Dec. 20, 1999 | 8:59 a.m.
So if they were 17 in 1940, they were born in 1923. Well, what do you know, they (notch babies) were born between those dastardly years (1917-26). They are victims of the heinous "Notch Act," which shortchanges them on their Social Security checks.
One lived to experience that dreadful shock upon 62. The other who became a deceased statistic, evaded this issue, not on his own accord but had he come back he would have been another victim of the bureaucratic scum and shortchanged also. They got the "short end of the stick," as Mike O'Callaghan recently expressed it in his classic column, "Wait and they will die." Thank you Mike.
The connivers admit it to be an inequity, a wrong to be righted. The culprits admit, "Give us our money, you con artists."
