Dale White, owner of Las Vegas-based White Lightning, has announced the expansion of his company's powertrain division.
"For the past year, we have been concentrating on a number of special projects for selected clients," White said. "Now, we are expanding our business to handle customer engines and/or complete integrated powertrain systems."
Located in the Las Vegas Motor Speedway Research and Development Center, White Lightning also has moved its headquarters to one of the center's new buildings.
"We decided to take possession of this unit as it is better suited for running our powertrain operation," White said. "The growth at the Speedway over the past year is phenomenal and the location provides us with everything we need to continue both our current and long-range expansion plans."
In conjunction with its powertrain expansion, White Lightning also will continue its endurance road racing program. Working in association with Petersen Motorsports, White Lightning Racing will compete in selected events in both the American Le Mans Series and the new NASCAR Grand Am Series.
"We decided to temporarily take a hiatus from off-road racing for the present time," White said. "Both Mike Petersen and I really enjoy endurance pavement racing. Both series offer excellent sponsorship benefits and are great proving grounds.
"Our first race of the new millennium will be the 24 Hours of Daytona and we already have committed to additional events throughout the season."
Las Vegas businessman and Petersen Motorsports owner Mike Petersen said he has enjoyed his affiliation with White Lightning.
"I have been involved with Dale White and White Lightning Racing for a number of years," Petersen said. "Their winning attitude is what it takes to be successful in motor sports today and their organization, attention to detail, knowledge and dedication is outstanding. This same attitude is being applied to the powertrain business and that is what makes them so successful.
White said the expansion of his powertrain division is just one in a series of steps to growing his business.
"We are all really excited about this new expansion," White said. "The options and opportunities in motor sports are endless and we have no intention of limiting ourselves.
"We plan to continue to increase our business and racing relationships and continue to be involved in many aspects of the business of racing."
