The City of Henderson has joined the Entertainment Development Corp. of Las Vegas, becoming the third local government entity to hook up with the organization dedicated to recruiting the film industry to the area.
The municipality, which joined at the organization's $10,000 platinum membership level, joins the City of Las Vegas and the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority as government entities now affiliated with the private, nonprofit group.
EDC President Mimosa Jones said the EDC now has 86 members.
She also reported that the EDC was solely responsible for attracting $18 million in film projects to Las Vegas in 1999. Among the major productions the EDC brought to Las Vegas were Warner Bros. Television, which produced the series "The Strip," for Paramount's UPN Network, and Nash Entertainment, which created "The I-Dare-You Challenge."
"The I-Dare-You Challenge" is a stunt-based program that, ironically, has replaced "The Strip," a canceled adventure series, on UPN's television lineup.
