Connecticut's two Indian-run casinos saw gains in slot machine revenues in November, a time when casinos usually see a seasonal slump in business.
Foxwoods Resort Casino on the Mashantucket Pequot reservation took in $58.8 million in slot machine profits last month, a 6 percent increase over November 1998, the casino reported.
"It looks like 1999 is shaping up to be a record year for us," said Bud Celey, chief executive of Foxwoods.
The smaller Mohegan Sun casino on the Mohegans' Montville reservation took in $39.7 million in profit from its slot machines, an 11 percent increase over last November.
"It was a really, really strong November," said Mitchell Etess, executive vice president of marketing at Mohegan Sun.
A quarter of the slot machine revenues are paid to the state.
