Final preparations being made for casino implosion
Tuesday, Dec. 14, 1999 | 8:50 a.m.
The tallest portion of the building is scheduled to be imploded at 2 a.m. Officials with Controlled Demolition Inc., which is handling the project, said the building's collapse should take about 10 seconds.
Onlookers won't have much of see. Taller buildings near the property and street closures will keep people more than 700 feet away and block most of the viewing.
Harrah's bought the closed Harolds and Nevada clubs this summer. The buildings are being razed to make way for a temporary plaza until Harrah's decides on a permanent project to build on the site.
