A criminal investigation into the possible misappropriation of more than $10,000 in missing police union funds has resulted in a Henderson jail officer being placed on administrative leave.
Lt. Les Beckman of the Henderson Detention Center is on leave with pay while the department investigates missing funds that were recently discovered by the Henderson Police Officers Association.
Sgt. Jack Brooks, president of the union, said he called for the investigation last week after inaccuracies in the funds were discovery by one of his staff.
"It is a substantial sum -- $10,000, possibly more," Brooks said today.
Beckman, who has been with the department nine years, is the union's treasurer. He has not been charged with any crime.
