Grace Begnaud

Grace Begnaud, 81, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in a local hospital. She was born March 3, 1918, in Holly, Colo. A resident for 35 years, she was a retired credit union secretary.

She is survived by one brother, Neil Cline of Rocklin, Calif.; and one grandchild.

Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave., is handling arrangements.

Victor H. Carmichael

Victor H. Carmichael, 76, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local care center. He was born July 31, 1923, in Jackson, Ga. A resident for 49 years, he was a civil service engineering writer and an Air Force veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Cathleen; one son, Brian Thompson of California; one daughter, Nancy Church of Las Vegas; one sister, Dorothy Mitchell of Hawaii; and two grandchildren.

Graveside services were scheduled at 11:30 a.m. today in Paradise Memorial Gardens. Davis Funeral Home, 2127 W. Charleston Blvd., handled arrangements.

Sophie M. Chamberlain

Sophie M. Chamberlain, 79, of North Las Vegas died Tuesday in North Las Vegas. She was born June 6, 1920, in Blooming Grove, Wis. A resident for five years, she was a civil service laundry worker.

She is survived by three daughters, Sharon Taylor of North Las Vegas, Shirley Jacobs of Merrimac, Wis., and Gayle Midkiff of Leesville, La.; one son, Richard Dean Chamberlain of Dodgeville, Wis.; 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

No local services are scheduled. American Burial and Cremation Services, 310 Foremaster Lane, is handling arrangements.

Robert Arnold Decker

Robert Arnold Decker, 66, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in Las Vegas. He was born June 29, 1933, in Nebraska. A resident for 40 years, he was a U.S. marshal and a veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Pamela; two daughters, Julieann Castro of California and Irene Trujillo of Las Vegas; and two grandchildren.

Katherine Fisher

Katherine Fisher, 99, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in Las Vegas. She was born July 16, 1900, in Ohio. A resident for one year, she was a retired secretary in the health care profession.

She is survived by her husband, Floyd; one daughter, Cheryl Pollack of Las Vegas; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be 4 p.m. Sunday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave.

Charles C. Hernstrom

Charles C. Hernstrom, 66, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. He was born Feb. 11, 1933, in Moline, Ill. A resident for 22 years, he was a fire safety inspector for the Clark County School District.

He is survived by one daughter, Terri Hall, one stepson, Charles Jolly, and one stepdaughter, Mary Jane Burkhalter, all of Las Vegas; one brother, Robert Hernstrom of England; and seven grandchildren.

American Burial and Cremation Services, 310 Foremaster Lane, is handling private arrangements.

Marion J. Johnson

Marion J. Johnson, 90, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Indio, Calif. She was born Aug. 21, 1909, in Colorado. A resident for four years, she was a homemaker, a member of the Rebekah Lodge, Daughters of the Union Veterans and Royal Neighbors of America.

She is survived by one daughter, Shirley Whitener of Indio; one son, Marlyn Johnson of Las Vegas; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 6-8 p.m. Friday in Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Emiliano Alfaro Mendez

Emiliano Alfaro Mendez, 55, of Henderson died Saturday in Henderson. He was born Nov. 20, 1944, in Mexico. A resident for six years, he was a bartender.

He is survived by three brothers, Salvadoor Mendez, Jesus Mendez and Manual Mendez, and three sisters, Espranza Portillo, Petra Manzo and Carmen DeLeon, all of California.

Services were scheduled at 10 a.m. today in St. Peter's Catholic Church, 204 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson, followed by burial in Boulder City Cemetery. Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson, handled arrangements.

Velma Lorene 'Tiny' Monroe

Velma Lorene "Tiny" Monroe, 81, of Summerville, Ore., died Tuesday in an Oregon hospital. She was born July 26, 1918, in Bowling Green, Ky. A former Las Vegas resident, she was a postmaster for 24 years and after retirement was chaplin for Pleasant Grove Grand 475 in Summerville.

She is survived by her husband, George; one daughter, Anne Tyree of Helena, Mont.; one son, Jim Monroe of Portland, Ore.; two sisters, Nell Thomas of Bowling Green and Ligene Dennison of Las Vegas; one brother, Leo Thomas of Las Vegas; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Daniels Chapel of the Valley, La Grande, Ore., is handling arrangements.

Raymond Earl Ohlemeyer

Raymond Earl Ohlemeyer, 86, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. He was born Oct. 17, 1913, in Iowa. A resident for 15 years, he was a secretary for an auto dealer.

He is survived by two brothers, Richard T. Ohlemeyer of St. Louis and Henry L. Ohlemeyer of Mesa, Ariz.; and one sister, Lucille DuPeret of Affton, Mo.

Shirley T. Patton

Shirley T. Patton, 71, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in Las Vegas. She was born Feb. 18, 1928, in Bayonne, N.J. A resident for 13 years, she was a Showboat hotel-casino guest room attendant.

She is survived by one son, John Edward Patton of New York; two sisters, Marion McKenna and Gloria Englander of New Orleans; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Ada Pickens

Ada Pickens, 72, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in Las Vegas. She was born Aug. 29, 1927, in Tennessee. A resident for six years, she was a cosmetics operation manager.

She is survived by five sons, Bart of Arkansas, Bret Pickens of Virginia, Mark Pickens of Florida and Todd Pickens and Steve Pickens, both of California; three daughters, Robin Picket and Rhonda Priest, both of California, and Susie Soueff of Nevada; one sister, Ruby Carney of Tennessee; and two grandchildren.

Fernando G. Romero

Fernando G. Romero, 71, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in a local hospital. He was born June 19, 1928, in Mexico. A resident for 19 years, he was a hotel clerk.

He is survived by one son, Fernando Romero Jr., and one daughter, Cristina Perez, both of Arizona; two sisters, Socorro Romero and Josefina Romero; and three grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 1-2 p.m. Saturday with services following at 2:30 p.m. in Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North.

Anneliese H. Rousseau

Anneliese H. Rousseau, 68, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in a local hospital. She was born March 28, 1931, in Lunen, Germany. A resident for 37 years, she was a retired Lucky supermarket clerk and a UMC and Sierra Health Services volunteer.

She is survived by one daughter, Linda Swift of Las Vegas; two sons, Rainer Scheppke of Las Vegas and Michael Scheppke of Mission Viejo, Calif.; two sisters, Wilma Husemann of Dortmund, Germany, and Renate Moritz of Lunen; three brothers, Fritz Schierenberg, Horst Schierenberg and Helmut Schierenberg, all of Lunen; and three grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 3:30 p.m. Sunday in Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd.

Mercedes Colina Sacris

Mercedes Colina Sacris, 71, of Las Vegas died Thursday in a local hospital. A resident for four years, she was born April 3, 1928, in the Philippines.

She is survived by her husband, Leon; three sons, Noel, Noli and Joel; four daughters, Edna, Romeo, Luna Willits and Fay; one brother, Fred; four sisters, Maria, Nenita, Daylinda and Lucia; and 10 grandchildren.

Services are scheduled at 4 p.m. today in Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North.

Geraldine M. Schielke

Geraldine M. Schielke, 64, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in a local hospital. She was born Feb. 12, 1935, in Buffalo, N.Y. A resident for 23 years, she was a retired checker at Smith's supermarket of more than 22 years.

She is survived by her husband, Edward C.; two daughters, Lori Johnson of Richland, Wash., and Shari Hall of Las Vegas; four sons, Wayne Schielke of Richland, Jamie Schielke of Henderson and Douglas Schielke and David Schielke, both of Las Vegas; one sister, Bonnie McKewon of Las Vegas; and three grandchildren.

Adele Shapiro

Adele Shapiro, 77, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in Las Vegas. She was born Oct. 30, 1922, in New York. A resident for 10 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, Irwin A.; two sons, Joel Shapiro of California and Michael Laughman of Las Vegas; one daughter, Susan Laughman of Las Vegas; two brothers, William Katz of California and Harry Katz of Florida; and four grandchildren.

Keri Gordon Sims

Keri Gordon Sims, 15, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in Las Vegas. He was born Feb. 25, 1984, in Las Vegas. He was a Clark High School student.

He is survived by his parents, Scott and Debi Sims, two sisters, Kristi Simms and Kaci Sims, and two brothers, Keli Sims and Kregi Sims, all of Las Vegas.

Visitation is scheduled noon until 3 p.m. Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd.

Jamyra LaShelle Thompson

Jamyra LaShelle Thompson, 13, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. She was born Jan. 23, 1986, in Las Vegas. A lifelong resident, she was a student at Charles I. West Middle School.

She is survived by her father, James Lee Thompson, her mother, Claudia Richard, four brothers, Thomas Richard, Leonard Richard, Jerome Thompson and Shawn Thompson, one sister, Lisa Thompson, her two grandmothers, Alma Richard Arrington and Rosa D. Carter, and her grandfather, Roosevelt Arrington, all of Las Vegas.

Visitation will continue until 7 p.m. today in Harrison-Ross Mortuaries, 2071 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Carver Baptist Church, 1221 N. J St. Burial will follow in Davis Paradise Memorial Gardens.

Andrew Tomich, 43, of Las Vegas died Nov. 30 in Las Vegas. He was born Aug. 14, 1956, in Las Vegas. A resident for 43 years, he was a telemarketing salesman.

He is survived by his wife, Arden Belsner; one son, Andrew Joseph Tomich, and one brother, George Tomich, both of Las Vegas; and two sisters, Debra Turk of Reno and Toni Wilgar of Las Vegas.

Diana Marie Whited

Diana Marie Whited, 55, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospital. She was born Aug. 29, 1944, in Minneapolis. A resident for three years, she worked with computers and was a cashier.

She is survived by her husband, Ken; two sons, Ted Morrow of Minnesota and Tim Morrow of Las Vegas; two daughters, Shantell Nelson of Minnesota and Dayna Fourness of Mora, Minn.; four brothers, John Whited, Jerry Whited and Ron Canavan, all of Minnesota, and Bill Whited of Mora; one sister, Carol Huntley of Minneapolis; and eight grandchildren.

Roberta A. Zack

Roberta A. Zack, 77, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in Las Vegas. She was born Sept. 12, 1922, in Illinois. A resident for 19 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by one daughter, Carol Festen of Henderson; two sons, David Adler of Dallas and Marve Adler of Carpenterville, Ill.; one sister, Dorothy Skuro of Camarillo, Calif.; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Services will be 10 a.m. Friday in Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Burial will follow in Eden Vale Memorial Park.
