Board members of the Las Vegas-Clark County Library District discussed briefly Thursday that more needs to be done to inform parents of the diversity of library materials available at public libraries.
The mention took place during the public comment section of the meeting. Discussion on the issue is on the agenda for the Jan. 13 board meeting.
Parents and students spoke out against the policy of allowing children to check out Playboy magazine from the reference desk at the Nov. 18 board meeting. However, members of the community were not present to offer comments at Thursday's board meeting.
Playboy is kept behind the reference desk at five libraries. Anyone with a library card can ask to see a copy of the magazine, regardless of age.
