Driver ran red light in fatal accident
Police believe a traffic accident that killed an 8-year-old Henderson girl Monday was caused when her father, Cedric Thomas, 29, ran a red light.
Michael Sarah Thomas was in the rear seat of the 1999 Volkswagen driven by her father when Thomas' car collided with a 1999 Ford Explorer driven by Nichol Lehman, 26, Monday about 6:20 p.m. at the intersection of Pecos and Pebble roads, Henderson Police said.
According to a preliminary investigation, Thomas went through a red light at the intersection striking Lehman's truck, police said. The collision caused Lehman to strike a pole in the median.
Thomas' car crossed over a median and struck a curb, ejecting Michael Thomas from the car, police said. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
