Flights added between Vegas, Spokane

America West Airlines will begin direct flights between Las Vegas and Spokane, Wash., beginning March 7.

The Phoenix-based airline announced that it would fly the route with 134-seat Boeing 737s and 124-seat Airbus 319 jets. The schedule released today said flights from Spokane would leave daily at 7:58 p.m., arriving at McCarran International Airport at 10:28 p.m., and leave Las Vegas at 12:42 a.m., arriving in Spokane at 3:12 a.m.

America West will offer an introductory round-trip fare on the route of $158.

America West also announced the addition of three daily flights between Phoenix and Spokane and three new daily flights between Phoenix and Boise, Idaho. Las Vegas and Phoenix are hubs for America West.

An airline spokeswoman said the new flights are part of a growth plan and no other flights are being canceled.

America West will compete with Southwest Airlines in providing direct service between Spokane and Las Vegas.
