Las Vegas-based American Vantage Companies said it bought an 80 percent stake in privately held Placement 2000.Com Inc., which provides online services for information technology companies, professionals and recruiters.

The purchase price was $1 million cash plus up to $2 million more based on future earnings, American Vantage said.

The company said it also granted options to Placement 2000's former principal, who is remaining with the acquired company, to buy up to 333,334 shares of American Vantage common stock.

New York-based Placement 2000 is establishing three websites that offer online recruiting solutions for information technology candidates and employers. The sites are expected to be operating within 90 days.
