Texas man’s arrest prompts warning to teen-agers and parents

Michael Woodworth, 31, was arrested on a charge of statutory sexual seduction after allegedly meeting the Hawthorne girl in a chat room and moving to Fallon to be closer to her.

The suspect is accused of bringing the girl to Fallon and having a sexual relationship with her.

Police Lt. Ray Dolan said teen-agers who meet someone over the Internet have no way to confirm the person's identity or motive.

He warned that many sex offenders have turned to computers as a new way to meet victims.

"A word of caution to teen-agers is to be very, very cautious about who you meet on the Internet. There could be very serious consequences," he told the Lahontan Valley News and Fallon Eagle Standard.
