Mark Stephen Ackerman

Mark Stephen Ackerman, 34, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. He was born Nov. 21, 1965, in California. A resident for 14 years, he was a retail salesman.

He is survived by his parents, Robert and Elizabeth Knudson of California; one daughter, Tiersa Ackerman of Montana; and one brother, James Ackerman of Las Vegas.

Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson, is handling arrangements.

Margaret Alice Batterson

Margaret Alice Batterson, 56, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. She was born Feb. 3, 1943, in New York. A resident for three years, she was a senior technical writer in the gaming industry.

She is survived by two sons, Walter C. Batterson of Bluffton, Ind., and Michael Batterson of Jacksonville, Fla.

A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Friday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St., is handling arrangements.

Deanna Irene Campbell

Deanna Irene Campbell, 49, of Las Vegas died Oct. 24 in Las Vegas. She was born March 14, 1950, in Iowa. A resident for many years, she was a nightclub dancer.

She is survived by one son, Mike McLaren of Iowa.

Graveside services were scheduled at 8:30 a.m. today in Woodlawn Cemetery. Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson, handled arrangements.

Jonathan E. Cohen

Jonathan E. Cohen, 24, of Las Vegas died Thursday. He was born March 31, 1975, in Tacoma, Wash. A resident for three years, he was a prison correctional officer, an Army veteran who participated in the peace-keeping mission in Haiti and was a member of the Nevada National Guard.

He is survived by his fiancee, Kristie O'Neill of Las Vegas; his parents, Joyce and George Desrosiers of Centralia, Wash.; one brother, Tom Cohen of Casper, Wyo.; one uncle, David P. Samuela, and one cousin, Heather Samuela, both of Las Vegas; and his grandparents, Fred and Betty Prehm of Pendleton, Ore.

Visitation is scheduled 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. services Friday in Affordable Cremation and Burial Service, 2457 N. Decatur Blvd.

Gary Ernest Cormier

Gary Ernest Cormier, 46, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. He was born March 16, 1953, in Massachusetts. A resident for 20 years, he was a manager for a casino and restaurant.

He is survived by one daughter, Tania M. Cormier of Massachusetts.

Dorothy E. Cross

Dorothy E. Cross, 86, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. She was born Jan. 1, 1913, in Guernsey, Wyo. A resident for 49 years, she was a retired manager of Sunset Trailer Park and King's Row Trailer Park, worked for the Weather Bureau as an observer in China Lake, Calif., and Bishop, Calif., and was a member of the Ladies Fleet Reserve Association.

She is survived by two sisters, Mickey J. Peak of Clearlake, Calif., and Rosie Hoalst of Meridian, Idaho.

Graveside services will be 2:30 p.m. Friday in Paradise Memorial Gardens. Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave., is handling arrangements.

Mary R. Davis, 70, of North Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospital. She was born Dec. 6, 1928, in Indiana. A resident for 35 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by three daughters, Bobbie Smith, Brenna Hicks and Joanne Mattingly, and one son, Harold Davis, all of Las Vegas; and four grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Friday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St.

Mary E. Garnett, 75, of Las Vegas died Nov. 23 in a local hospital. She was born Sept. 14, 1924, in Nebow, Ky. A resident for 26 years, she was a retired waitress and a former member of the Moose Lodge.

She is survived by three daughters, Linda Welch of Pahrump and Gloria Paul and Tammy Whitney, both of Las Vegas; four sons, Gerald Garnett, Michael Garnett and Darryl Garnett, all of Las Vegas and Donald Garnett of San Jacinto, Calif.; 15 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation was to continue until 1 p.m. today in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave., followed by graveside services in Palm Valley View Memorial Park. Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St., handled arrangements.

Margaret Schumaker Higby

Margaret Schumaker Higby, 78, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local care center. She was born Nov. 24, 1921, in Rochelle, Ill. A resident for 39 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by one sister, Dorothy Long of Anaheim, Calif.

Visitation is scheduled one hour prior to 2 p.m. services Friday in the Parkdale LDS Ward. Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave., is handling arrangements.

Ellen A.L. Holt

Ellen A.L. Holt, 58, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. She was born Feb. 24, 1941, in Aberdeen, Wash. A resident for eight years, she was a bingo agent at Mahoney's Casino.

She is survived by her husband, Harvey G.; one son, Darrell L. Holt of Las Vegas; two daughters, Allana M. Barden of Las Vegas and Stephanie L. Holt of San Jose, Calif.; four brothers, Alexander J. Boskovich of Pahrump, Alexander J. Boskovich of Santa Clara, Calif., Michael R. Boskovich of Portola, Calif., and Charles S. "Donnie" Boskovich of Aberdeen, Wash.; three sisters, Rosalie A. Hain of Santa Clara, Martha P. Bonson of Reno and Barbara J. Johnson of Las Vegas.

Adela Rosario Hurtado, 57, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospital. She was born Nov. 6, 1942, in California. A resident for eight years, she was a seamstress.

She is survived by three sons, Manuel J.J. Hurtado and John J. Paulisich, both of Las Vegas, and Anthoney R.J. Paulisich of Susanville, Calif.; her parents, Manuel J. and Felicitas Hurtado of Gridley, Calif.; one brother, Arthur Hurtado; one sister, Vicky Brooke of Biggs, Calif.; and three grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Saturday in Affordable Cremation and Burial Service, 2457 N. Decatur Blvd.

William Manning Jr.

William Manning Jr., 46, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. He was born April 23, 1953, in Oakland, Calif. A resident for two years, he was an accountant.

He is survived by two daughters, Maria Manning and Raquel Manning, both of San Jose, Calif.; his parents, Isabel and William Manning Sr. of Modesto, Calif.; one brother, Edwin Manning of Las Vegas; three sisters, Virginia L. Brooks and Roberta Manning, both of Modesto, and Cbarinda F. Manning of California; and one grandchild.

Geraldine Stanford Mathis

Geraldine Stanford Mathis, 74, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. She was born Oct. 12, 1925, in Kansas City, Mo. A resident for 29 years, she was a retired seamstress for a dry cleaner and a member of Moose Lodge 582.

She is survived by one son, Ernest G. Mathis of Overton; three daughters, DeAnna Costin and Linda Brinker, both of Las Vegas, and Bethelia Higgins of Pahrump; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Calvary Community Church, Overton. Nevada Funeral Service-Nevada Cremation or Burial Society, 2983 Fremont St., is handling arrangements.

Roland J. Myers

Roland J. Myers, 76, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. He was born Feb. 26, 1923, in Pennsylvania. A resident for two years, he was a boiler repairman and a veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Carole; and two sons, Larry Myers and Kevin Myers, both of Lorain, Ohio.

Mary Cecilia Josephine Reddington

Mary Cecilia Josephine Reddington, 84, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. She was born April 13, 1915, in New York. A resident for 27 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by one daughter, Anne Salzman, and two grandsons, William R. Salzman and Bryan A. Salzman, all of Nevada.

Edward Paul Ringgold

Edward Paul Ringgold, 53, of Las Vegas died Thursday in Las Vegas. He was born May 28, 1946, in Seattle. A lifelong resident, he was a member of UNLV's Kappa Sigma Fraternity.

He is survived by his wife, Naomi L.; and two sons, Benton Marshall and Paul Edward Ringgold, both of Las Vegas.

Private services for family and friends will be Saturday. Valley Memorial Crematory, 745 W. Sunset Road, No. 16, Henderson, is handling arrangements.

Sandra Lee Shaffar

Sandra Lee Shaffar, 57, of Las Vegas died Friday in a local hospital. She was born June 20, 1942, in Waukegan, Ill. A resident for 20 years, she was a manager at a mobile home park for 20 years.

She is survived by her mother, Dorothy Armstrong of Las Vegas; two sisters, Betty Lawrence of Lake Elsinore, Calif., and Diane Pennich of Harrison, Ark.; and two brothers, Larry Armstrong of Waukegan, Ill., and Ty Armstrong of Savannah, Ga.

Mary Frances Tusing

Mary Frances Tusing, 70, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospital. She was born March 2, 1929, in West Virginia. A resident for 35 years, she was a homemaker, a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the White Shrine.

She is survived by her husband, Foster F.; two daughters, Joan G. Langham of Las Vegas and Theresa M. Woodard of Henderson; two sisters, Nina Knepp and Mable Gould; two brothers, Howard Knotts and Albert Knotts Jr.; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Jennifer Melissa Whitehead, 27, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. She was born March 3, 1972, in Burbank, Calif. A lifelong resident, she was a hotel-casino bookkeeper.

She is survived by two sons, Jon Whitehead and Jacob Whitehead-Cater, one daughter, Meagan Whitehead, her parents, Terry and Larry Whitehead, and one brother, Larry "Sunny" Whitehead, all of Las Vegas; and her grandparents, Harry Dunne of Wilmington, N.C., and Lloyd and Katherine Whitehead of Petersburg, Ind.

Visitation is scheduled 2-7 p.m. Friday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Additional visitation is scheduled one hour prior to 11 a.m. services Saturday in the Christy Meadows Relief Society Room.

Suk (Jung Min) Yim

Suk (Jung Min) Yim, 48, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. A resident for 21 years, she was born Jan. 17, 1951, in Korea.

She is survived by two sons, Tony Cho and Billy Cho, both of Las Vegas; four brothers; and three sisters.

Visitation is scheduled 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Friday in Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave. Graveside services will follow in Paradise Memorial Gardens.
