Resort sues ex-exec over severance deal
Tuesday, Aug. 31, 1999 | 11:17 a.m.
Hard Rock Hotel Inc. filed suit to obtain the court's approval of its severance offer to a former executive, Gary Selesner.
Selesner, who was fired at a board of directors meeting held on Aug. 17 to discuss his performance as general manager, had rejected the company's severance package. The package amounts to more than several hundred thousand dollars. Selesner was senior vice president and general manager of Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.
Brian Ogaz, Hard Rock Hotel's vice president of finance, declined comment.
But Selesner, who didn't attend the meeting, claims his employment agreement hasn't been properly terminated and he is entitled to several million dollars in compensation and benefits according to an employment and stock agreement.
The company is seeking a court ruling to find its termination of Selesner's employment was in compliance with the law and its severance offer was "fair."
Selesner and his attorney, Sam Lionel, could not be reached for comment.
