United cutting one of three Denver flights

"United needs some planes and some crew time back, so they're looking to their weak links," said United Airlines' Reno general manager Nora Abbey. "Our 6:30 a.m. flight to Denver is that weak link."
United's other two Denver flights will remain, Abbey said, but will be served by 133-seat Boeing 727s instead of 188-seat 757s.
Abbey said she will lose the 757s on Sept. 7, but hopes to get one back by Oct. 31. She also hopes to avoid layoffs among the 70 employees by leaving some positions vacant.
"The bottom line is that reduction of services is always a disappointment," said airport spokesman Adam Mayberry. "But Denver will still be served by two flights and we hope to get the third flight back."
The Denver airport connects to many East Coast destinations and Mayberry said the airport was exploring other options in increase its service to the hub.
