Sunday, Aug. 22, 1999 | 4:04 a.m.

On Tuesday, U.S. District Judge Edward Reed Jr. also ordered former Sumo Sushi Restaurant employee Shao Ziong Wu to pay $167,361 in restitition.

Wu, 38, was arrested in August 1998. Prosecutors said he also used credit card information to counterfeit new credit cards.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Kristal Marlow said Wu was sentenced for 42 counts of trafficking in credit card information. Most involved Incline Village residents.

"The judge sentenced him based on the charges he made on the cards," she said. "I was arguing based on credit limits he took. But I didn't win."

Wu, an immigrant living in Nevada on a lapsed student visa, faces a deportation hearing in late September, Marlow said.

Wu was convicted of illegal use of credit cards in Salerno, Calif., in 1992.
