Millennial class arrives at UNV-Reno

Thursday, Aug. 19, 1999 | 12:55 p.m.

By the time they're all on hand, the school is expected to have a record enrollment.

The anticipated 12,500 students would be a 1 percent gain and the largest in history. The freshman class is expected to grow by 16 percent, with most of the gains from Washoe County, according to Melisa Choroszy, assistant vice president for enrollment services.

And students are staying longer, taking an average six years to graduate.

"They tend not to be in a big hurry but want a broad university experience," Choroszy said.
