Doctor sued by Nevada man on wrongful death allegation

CHEYENNE, Wyo. -- A Winnemucca man whose mother died while undergoing surgery for kidney problems is suing the Wyoming surgeon on grounds of medical negligence and wrongful death.
Lawrence Henman claims his 61-year-old mother, Dolores Henman, died because Dr. Carrie Thoms of Cheyenne continued operating despite encountering significant difficulties in passing a dialysis catheter into Mrs. Henman's vein.
Thoms' attorney says she will respond to the lawsuit within the next two weeks.
According to the lawsuit, Dolores Henman was referred to Thoms after an earlier attempt to install a catheter by another doctor failed.
The lawsuit claims that Thoms used excessive force and ripped the vein, causing Dolores Henman to bleed to death under general anesthesia.
