Detroit to host October meeting

General managers of Detroit's new casinos will be among the speakers at an October gaming conference in Detroit.
MGM Grand's Lyn Baxter, MotorCity's Craig Ghelfi and Greektown's Mike Mecca will be panelists in a session of the Northern Gaming Summit Oct. 12-14.
Other speakers at the event at Cobo Conference and Exhibition Center include American Gaming Association President Frank Fahrenkopf, Detroit Mayor Dennis Archer, Detroit City Council President Gil Hill, who was instrumental in the approval of casino gaming in his city, and MGM Grand Inc. Chairman J. Terrence Lanni, whose company opened Detroit's first casino in late July.
The Northern Gaming Summit also will present a series of speakers who will appear on the panels of seminars that will address issues concerning Native American, riverboat, land-based and charitable gaming in the Northern United States and Canada.
