Fire still unofficial emergency

Gary Zunino, the regional manager of the Nevada Division of Forestry, estimates that 136,000 acres of private range land in Elko and Eureka counties were charred. The statewide figure is about 1.3 million acres.
Nevada's top emergency management officials are sheduled to meet with commissioners Wednesday afternoon at the Elko County Courthouse.
Eureka County Commissioners meet Friday to consider asking Gov. Kenny Guinn to declare an emergency.
