Because of an error by the Sun, an incorrect offense was reported in a story in Tuesday's Metro section on the sentencing of a Las Vegas couple. Armando Gonzales and Elvira Guardado-Gonzales were sentenced Monday to probation for leaving their three children home alone while they went to cash a check and buy groceries. A fire in their house at 1606 Ferrell St. on Jan. 24, 1998, killed two of the children and seriously injured the third. The couple pleaded guilty to gross misdemeanor child abuse and neglect charges. The Sun regrets the error.
