Briarwood Homeowners Association is seeking class action status against Sun Gold Development Inc. and Deznan Development Corp., alleging construction defects in a 48-unit townhouse project on Briar Meadow Way in southwest Las Vegas.
A District Court suit alleges the defendants made only superficial and ineffective repairs in the project's roofs, windows, concrete, framing, stucco, electrical, plumbing and mechanical systems and walls.
Deznan, which built about 10 of the 48 units, denied such allegations. "Of the 10 units we built, eight are sold, and so far all our customers are happy. If they are unhappy, we'll be getting complaints by now. But we haven't heard any complaints so far," said Jose Hernandez, Deznan's owner.
Sun Gold officials could not be reached for comment.
Separately, Lakeview Owners Association and William Darwin are seeking class action status against Southwest Investments Inc. and Laredo Development Co., alleging construction defects in a 231-unit condominium complex at Erva Street in southwest Las Vegas.
The District Court suit alleged the residential units had defects in their roofs, windows, concrete, framing, stucco, decks, electrical, plumbing, mechanical systems and walls.
The defendants could not be reached for comment.
