Body found in Lake Mead identified as Army sergeant

Friday, Aug. 13, 1999 | 12:14 p.m.

Sgt. 1st Class Anthony M. Scott was last seen Sunday near the Overton Beach Marina, where his body was found floating Tuesday morning.

The cause of death originally was presumed to be drowning, but the Clark County coroner's office has not given an official ruling on how Scott died.

Scott was an active-duty member of the Joint Suppression of Enemy Air Defenses force stationed at Nellis, a base spokeswoman said. The force is a tenant unit, meaning it is stationed at Nellis, but all of its commands come from Washington D.C.

The Nellis spokeswoman said she could provide no more information about Scott.
