Suspects in fatal shooting named

Tuesday, Aug. 10, 1999 | 11:05 a.m.

CARSON CITY, Nev. - Two 16-year-old Carson City boys are being sought in Friday night's fatal shooting in a field off U.S. 50 east of downtown Carson City near the Pinon Plaza casino.

Sheriff's officers said on Monday they think Jorge Torres-Reyes and Usiel Mora are still in the area and are armed and dangerous.

They are wanted for suspicion of murder.

"If someone sees them, they should certainly give them a wide berth and call us," Chief Deputy Bernie Curtis said.

Four people were struck by bullets Friday evening in a field on Highway 50 near Lompa Lane.

Clint Jacobo, 20, died at the scene. His brother Luis, 20, and two male cousins ages 16 and 17 were each wounded more than once and remained hospitalized in Reno.

Investigators have not determined whether there was any gang connection to the incident, Curtis said.

"We haven't had any time to look into it yet," he said. "We've been working on evidence forensically and with witnesses and their statements, putting together written statements for the district attorney and the courts."

The suspects apparently got into a confrontation in the field with the four members of Jacobo's group, Curtis said.

"Immediately upon the onset of the confrontation, the suspects drew handguns from their waistbands and began firing upon the other four individuals, striking each numerous times," he said. "We believe none of the other people had weapons."
