Letter: Art Force: ad man extraordinaire

Friday, Aug. 6, 1999 | 9:58 a.m.

Art Force, prior to 1972 was the resident ad man for the Nevada Beverage Company for many years, where he managed the local campaigns for Miss Budweiser Boat Races, the Jim Beam Beatty Burro Races, the Hiram Walker Round Table, the Mint 400 and the Convention Center effort to get the conventioneers rolling down the L.A. highway to the greatest new convention center in the world.

Art's wife, Marian, was confined to a wheelchair for the 10 years I can attest to. He worked out of his home in order to care for her. Once in a while you would see them off camera in the rear of an ongoing promotion.

I remember the year of the Chicken Promotion. Rumor was two prominent citizens would conduct an illegal cock fight within the city of Las Vegas and Art Force was involved.

The sheriff sent officers to the "private" party to check it out. In all appearance there were the roosters and the ring. Art invited them to stick around and watch the action. When the fancy chickens from Lief Branden's Chicken Ranch laid eggs in their crates, Art had the last laugh.

Art Force proved that a good ad man sticks to the facts.
